GUARDIANSHIP & CONSERVATORSHIP

A guardianship is established when a person or institution is named in a Will or appointed by the Court to care for the person of a minor child or an incapacitated adult.

A conservatorship is a legal relationship that is established when a person or institution is appointed by the Court to care for the financial affairs  of a minor child or an incapacitated adult.

Depending on the facts of a given case, sometimes it is necessary to file for both a guardianship and a conservatorship.
